What is Wellbutrin used
for?
- Wellbutrin is an antidepressant. Wellbutrin is
prescribed to help relieve major depression, it
works in the brain to treat depression.
How should you
take this medication?
-
Wellbutrin can be taken with or without food. If
stomach upset occurs, you may take this drug with
food.
- Take each dose with a full glass of water. Do not
crush, chew, or break the extended-release tablet.
Swallow the pill whole.
- Take Wellbutrin by mouth with or without food. If
stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach
irritation.
Several weeks may pass before your symptoms improve.
Do not stop taking Wellbutrin without checking with
your doctor.
- If you miss a dose of Wellbutrin , skip the missed
dose. Go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not
take 2 doses at once
General Precautions with Wellbutrin
- Do nit use Wellbutrin if you are allergic to any
ingredient in Wellbutrin or you are taking any other
medicine that contains bupropion.
- Do not take
Wellbutrin within 14 days of taking an
MAO inhibitor .
Wellbutrin may cause some people to be agitated,
irritable or display other abnormal behaviors. It may
also cause some people to have suicidal thoughts and
tendencies or to become more depressed. If you or your
caregiver notice any of these adverse effects, tell
your doctor right away.
- This medicine may cause some people to feel a false
sense of well-being, or to become drowsy, dizzy, or
less alert than they are normally. Make sure you know
how you react to this medicine before you drive, use
machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous
if you are dizzy or are not alert and clearheaded .
What are the possible side effects of Wellbutrin?
Check with your doctor if any of these
side effects persist or become bothersome:
- headache or migraine
- sleep problems
- nausea, vomiting, constipation, dry mouth
- confusion, dizziness,
- loss of appetite
- increased sweating
- loss of interest in sex
