What is Levaquin used for?
- Levaquin is used to treat a variety of bacterial
infections. Levaquin belongs to a class of drugs
called quinolone antibiotics.
How should you take this medication?
- Take levaquin with a full glass of water. Drink
several extra glasses of fluid each day to prevent
crystals from forming in the urine.
- Take Levaquin on an empty stomach 1 hour before
or 2 hours after meals.
- Take this medication at least 2 hours before or
2 hours after taking any medications containing
calcium, magnesium or aluminum.
- Take your complete prescription exactly as
directed, even if you begin to feel better. If you
stop taking levaquin too soon, the infection may
come back.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you
remember. If it is almost time for your next dose,
skip the one you missed and go back to your regular
schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
General Precautions with Levaquin
- Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if
you are allergic to it,or to other quinolones such
as ciprofloxacin, gatifloxacin, gemifloxacin, or
moxifloxacin.
- Levaquin will not treat a viral infection such
as the common cold or flu.
- Do not give this medicine to a child younger
than 18 years old. Levofloxacin may interfere with
bone development in a child.
- This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy, use
caution engaging in activities requiring alertness
such as driving or using machinery.
- This medication may make you more sensitive to
the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning
booths or sunlamps.
What are the possible side effects of Lamictal ?
- Get emergency medical help if you have any of
these signs of an allergic reaction: hives,
difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips,
tongue, or throat.
- Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly
unlikely but very serious side effects occur: chest
pain, change in the amount of urine, dark urine,
clay-colored stools, easy bruising or bleeding,
fainting, fast/irregular heartbeat, persistent
nausea/vomiting, persistent sore throat or fever,
seizures, unusual fatigue, yellowing eyes or skin.
