What is Flagyl used
for?
- Flomax is in a group of drugs called
alpha-adrenergic blockers. Flomax is used to treat
the symptoms of an enlarged prostate. It relaxes the
muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, making it
easier to urinate.
How should you
take this medication?
- Take each dose with a full glass of water.
- Swallow this medication whole. Do not crush,
chew, or open the capsules. The dosage is based on
your medical condition.
- Flomax is usually taken once a day,
approximately 30 minutes after a meal. Try to take
this medication at the same time each day.
- If you miss a dose of Flomax , take it as soon
as possible. If it is almost time for your next
dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your
regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at
once.
General Precautions with Flomax
- Before taking flomax, tell your doctor if you
are allergic to sulfa drugs.
- Before using this medication, tell your doctor
or pharmacist your medical history, especially of:
prostate cancer, blood pressure problems.
- Flomax can cause dizziness, especially when you
first stand up. Be careful about driving, operating
machinery, and performing any other hazardous task
until you know how you react to the drug.
- Avoid the use of alcohol, which may
increase dizziness caused by flomax.
What are the possible side effects of Flomax?
- Stop using Flomax and get emergency medical
help if you have any of these signs of an allergic
reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of
your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
- Stop using Flomax and call your doctor at once
if you have any of these serious side effects: penis
erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer,
severe dizziness or fainting
