What is BuSpar used for?
- BuSpar is used to treat anxiety disorders or to
relieve the symptoms of anxiety.
How should you take this medication?
- BuSpar should be taken consistently, always with or
always without food, take it the same way each
time. Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking
BuSpar.
- If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon
as possible. However, if it is almost time for your
next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your
regular dosing schedule.
General Precautions with BuSpar
- BuSpar may cause drowsiness, dizziness, blurred
vision, or lightheadedness. Make sure you know how you
react to this medicine before you drive, use machines,
or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are
dizzy.
- Do not this medication if you are allergic to
buspirone, BuSpar should not be used within 14 days of
an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan),
phenelzine (Nardil), selegiline, or tranylcypromine.
What are the possible side effects of BuSpar?
- Get emergency medical help if you have any of these
signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty
breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or
throat.
- Check with your doctor if any of the
following side effects continue or are bothersome:
dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, depression,
diarrhea, dry mouth, fatigue, headache, nausea,
nervousness; sleeplessness.
