Definition
A
varicocele is a widening of the veins along the
spermatic cord. This cord holds up a man's testicles.
It is most common in men between 15 and 25 years of
age.
Causes
It is caused by inadequate valves within the veins
along the spermatic cord.
Symptoms

Usually, it does not cause any
symptoms.

Scrotal swelling

There can be dull pain in the
scrotum.

Visible tortuous veins in the
scrotum

A large varicocele can be
painful.

It can cause infertility.

Diagnostics
- A painless, tortuous
mass is palpated along the spermatic cord in the
standing position.

It is usually harmless and requires no treatment.
